Methodology

How SizeMyPet creates sizing guidance.

Recommendations are cautious planning estimates. They help shoppers measure better, not replace brand charts or professional instructions.

Measurement-first guidance is strongest when breed, weight, and tape checks are used together.

Breed Estimates

Breed pages use typical adult weight ranges, size categories, and known body-shape traits such as deep chest, short muzzle, long back, or dense coat. Individual measurements matter more than breed name.

Measurement-Based Results

Calculator results prioritize the measurements that matter most for each product type: crates use length and height, harnesses and life jackets use chest girth, collars use neck circumference, cones use neck and snout length, and beds use body length.

Conservative Notes

The site favors cautious notes when a product affects safety, recovery, containment, buoyancy, or comfort. Life jackets, recovery cones, giant-breed gear, and puppy sizing include extra reminders.

Product Picks

Product pick cards are organized by fit criteria such as adjustability, support, hardware strength, washability, and intended use. Affiliate relationships may exist, but product links should still be compared against brand size charts before buying.

Limits

SizeMyPet does not test every product, diagnose medical needs, provide veterinary advice, or guarantee fit. For post-surgery, safety, flotation, or restraint products, manufacturer and veterinarian instructions come first.

Corrections

Sizing data can be improved. If you find a mismatch, send the breed, product type, measurements, product brand, and chart or fit issue through the contact page.
